Pryadkin S.L. Application of scanning tunneling microscopy for studying
of structure of conductive solid state surfases. Thesis for in
candidate’s degree Physics & Mathematics in the speciality 01.04.18 –
surface physics and chemistry, Institute of Physics of Metals NAS of
Ukraine, Kyiv,1998.

Three scientific works and one patent are defended, containing results
of scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) investigations of real (100) and
(110) tungsten surfaces, cleavage of surface of high temperature
superconductor YBa2Cu3O7-x, and lithography modification processes of Si
(111) surface performed in ultra high vacuum conditions. Based on the
study of surface topography the reflection anisotropy of conducting
electrons from real tungsten surfaces (100) and (110) during normal
incidence has been explained. By measuring of voltage-current
dependencies of YBa2Cu3O7-x cleavages at 4.2 K without point contact the
range of possible values of super conductive gap is determined. The
possibility to transfer silicon from Si (111) surface on STM tungsten
tip and backward has been demonstrated. The size of creating features is
ranged within 2-30 nanometers.
