The thesis is devoted to the development of the methods of
obtaining interspecific hybrids and transgenic buckwheat plants. The
conditions of  hybrid embryos growth and plant regeneration from
their callus tissue have been optimized. The marker enzymes for the
selection of true hybrids of buckwheat have been determined. Plants
regenerated from callus tissues developed from hybrid embryos were
mainly amphidiploids. The method of genetic transformation of
buckwheat plants by direct regeneration from primary explants was
worked out. The interspecific hybrids and transgenic buckwheat
plants with agriculturally valuable characters have been obtained.
