The work deals with the problem of the definition of the status of the
complex sentences with the subordinate by-comparative clauses on the
syntactical level of the modern Ukrainian language. The author
investigates pecularities of the formal- syntactical,
semantic-syntactical and proper-semantical organizations of the
constructions under analysis, the determination of which helps to find
out the position of the by-comparative constructions in the
semantic-functional category of comparison, and the discrimination of
their functional types. On the basic of the complex analysis we’ve come
to the conclusion about heterogeneity of the comparative sentences of
the differentiating type, have retraced correlation of the latter
mentioned type with the other ones of the comparative constructions,
have ascertained the varieties of the possible derivational
reorganizations of the subordinate by-comparative structures.

Key-words: the comparative, polypredicative construction, by-word
subordination, the comparison of the differentiating type, the predicate
of the quality-correlation, polypropositional semantics.
