Tuzkova I.V. The lyric origin in the Russian prose of the end of the
19th century (on the material of the small epic genres) Manuscript.

The thesis is presented for a degree of candidate in philology;
speciality 10.01.02-Russian literature. Dniepropetrovsk State
University, Dniepropetrovsk, 1999.

The thesis is devoted to the problem of making lyrical narration in the
Russian prose of the end of 19th century. The role of the lyric origin
in the intercommunication of realistic and romantic artistic expression
is investigated in it. The author shows that reorientation of realistic
poetics towards reinforcement of lyric intensity of narration in the end
of the 19th century occurred first of all in small epic genres. In the
thesis the forms of expression of the author’s position in V.Garshin’s,
V.Korolenko’s and A.Chekhov’s works are examined; it is noted that they
have found new correlation of subjective and objective origins and
accordingly more intensive and economical use of expressive stylistic
means; specific character of their lyricism is determined.
