The dissertation is a theoretical study of the phenomenon of the OOth
century mass culture. The work emphasises the topicality of objective
and thorough research in the complex, contradictory and multi-aspect
phenomenon of mass culture, which is an important layer of modern
culture and determines its present state and prospects.

Mass culture is constantly spreading. Therefore much prominence has
been given to issues associated with factual processes of the
development of mass culture in modern societies. Certain important
tendencies in mass culture that have appeared in the OOth century, as
well as the analysis of mass culture in the Soviet and post-Soviet
cultural space, including Ukraine, have been considered.

The author’s aim was to show mass culture as a new cultural and
historical paradigm of modern times and a specific layer of modern
culture, as well as to show the natural character of the formation of
mass culture and the causes for growth of its importance in the OOth
century culture.
