Yashina L. I. V. Drozd’s Mythological Poetics of Epics. – Manuscript.

Dissertation for a Candidate Degree by speciality 10.01.01 – Ukrainian
Literature. – Dnipropetrovsk State University, Dnipropetrovsk, 1999.

The main point V.Drozd’s Mythological Poetics as one of the specific
features of the writer’s individuality is being viewed in the
dissertation. Aesthetic and functional peculiarities of mythological and
folk-lore trends are being analysed in his works of 1970 – 90 s. The
investigation of the problem under consideration allows to express the
author’s conception concerning personality and world. Moreover the
originality of interpretation of such mythological motifs as searching
for happiness, “Land Obetovannaya” (“Yriy”, “Earth’s Leaves”),
lakontronii (“Vovkulaka”, “Evil Soul. With Life”), family theme,
opposition of Kindness – Evil, Life – Death, image – myths of the Earth,
Tree, Mother, etc. finds its sense in the dissertation.

Much attention is paid to the author’s views of the contempopary world
problems (existential personal state, collapse of the individual
spiritual world) in connection with his personal outlook.

The analysis of V.Drozd’s masterpieces in mythological aspects gives us
perspectives for deep understanding of the writer’s achievements as a
literary artist. It’s an important stage for creating the basis of the
fundamental research of Ukrainian prose of 1960 – 90 s.
