Thesis for defending the degree of Candidate of Science in Physical
Education and Sport in Specialty 24.00.01 – Olympic and Professional
Sports, National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine,
Kyiv, 1999.

The study was dedicated to scientific analysis of commercialization
process in Olympic Sports as one of determinants in its development on
the threshold of centuries. Objective prerequisites and major tendencies
in the development of commercialization process were elicited issuing
from both internal regularities in the development of Olympic Sports and
specifics in external socio-economic environment, features in modem
world market.

In this work, a system of commercial activity in Olympic Sports was
presented, its purposeful components and internal relations were
characterized, commercial programs by participants of international
Olympic movement were analyzed. The author substantiated criteria of
socio-economic efficiency for commercial activity in Olympic Sports,
determined the major directions for its further improvement.

The work contains recommendations, to the International Olympic
Committee, International Sports Federations, National Olympic Committees
concerning the improvement of their commercial activity.
