The dissertation represents the study of saprophytic bacteria
extracellular lectins. A new direction in the microbiology is elaborated
and based on the concept of the research and application of the
principal new nontoxic natural medical preparations in different regions
of biology and medicine.

Broadened screening of extracellular lectin producers are conducted
among Bacillus genus bacteria, their ability for synthesis of the
lectins with unique specificity to sialic and uronic acids was
established. There were shown the physiological peculiarity of the
growth and formation extracellular lectins; the direct biosynthesis of
these metabolites was realized. The technology of the obtaining of
bacterial sialospecific lectin preparations has been developed.
Carbohydrate-binding haemagglutinating, physico-chemical and
medical-biological properties has been determined. The possible sphere
of these biopolymers application as the valuable chemical-analytical and
diagnostic reagents, so as inductors of the g-interferonogenesis,
immunotropic and antitumoral means were offered. The scientific grounds
are created for the construction of the new direct action therapeutic
preparations on the basis of the saprophytic bacteria extracellular
lectins.
