SUMMARY

Banakh O.E. Ternary systems Sc – R.E.E. of cerium subgroup – Si (phase
equilibria, crystal structures and physical properties of
compounds).-Manuscript.

Thesis for a candidate degree by speciality 02.00.01 – inorganic
chemistry. -The Ivan Franko State University of Lviv, Lviv, 1999.

The thesis is devoted to investigation of the character of component’s
interaction in the Sc-R.E.E.-Si ternary systems. The phase equilibria of
the Sc – La, Pr, Nd – Si ternary systems are determined at 870 K. The
phase equilibria of the Sc-Ce,Sm-Si ternary systems at 870 K are defined
more precisely in the 50 at.% Si range. Totally 23 ternary compounds
have been found. 17 compounds among them were synthesized for the first
time. Crystal structure has been determined for 16 compounds. They
belong to 4 structure types. Magnetic and electrochemical corrosion
properties of some ternary compounds of the Sc-Ce,Pr,Nd,Sm,Gd-Si systems
have been investigated.
