Thesis presents complex vision of the employment problem of the young
professionals – graduates of the higher educational establishment (HEE)
with the physical education profile during the period of transition to
the market oriented economy. The thesis also analyses the peculiarities
of social security and employment for the young professionals in foreign
countries. The paper develops and suggests possible solutions of the
employment problem for the graduates of the higher educational
establishments under current conditions as well, as for the future.

(HEE) with the physical culture profile in the field of employment of
their graduates under the period of transition to the market economy.

Subject of investigation – mechanism of employment of higher educational
establishments of physical education graduates under the period of
transition to the market economy.

Goal of the research is to define the peculiarities of employment of the
graduates of the HEE with physical culture profile in the period of
transition to the market economy and to develop recommendation on the
improvement of the current HEE with the physical culture profile on the
issues of employment of the graduates.

Scientific novelty of the research lays in the sphere of the systematic
analysis of the employment issues of the graduates of the HEE with the
physical culture profile, based on the research of their current
position on the job market in the period of the transition to the market
economy. Main assumptions that define the scientific novelty of the
thesis are:

Suggested scheme of employment for the graduates of the HEE with the
physical culture profile under the conditions of the establishment of
market economy.

The priority directions for the activity of the HEEs with the physical
culture profile on the issues of employment of the graduates,
corresponding to the demand in the job markets and the needs of the
state.

New components were suggested to be introduced to the academic
curriculum.

The model of an employment agency for the HEE with the physical culture
profile was developed.

Practical value of the research lays in the sphere of outlining the
tendencies of the labour market development in the sphere of physical
culture and sport and the peculiarities of the employment for the
graduates of the HEE with the physical culture profile, analysis of the
socio-pedagogic peculiarities of the adaptation of this category of
graduates under the conditions of the ungranted employment.

The first Chapter “Employment of higher educational establishments
graduates under market economy conditions as a scientific problem”
reviews the socio-economic principles of the physical culture and sport
functioning under the condition of transition to the market economy and
the position of the graduates of the HEE with the physical culture
profile in this segment of the labour market. The system analysis of
the employment and social security systems of the young specialists in
the foreign countries is given.

The Second Chapter “Method and organisation of investigations” presents
the methods used to fulfil planned research goals i. e.: analysis of the
new scientific practical literature, legal documents and statistical
data, mass and pilot questionnaires, expert evaluation method, elements
of the system-functional analysis and modelling,
organisational-management experiment, methods of mathematical
statistics. The research was conducted over the period of 1993-1998
and consisted of the following stages:

Generalisation of the scientific-methodological and theoretical data
from Ukrainian and foreign literature.

Establishing quantitative and qualitative relations between the contents
of the preparation of the specialists and the practical needs in the
sphere of the physical education and sport.

Developing and testing the marketing service model for the HHE with the
physical culture profile.

The Third Chapter “Improvement of employment system of higher
educational establishments of physical education graduates under present
economic situation” reviews the objective and subjective factors that
influence the formation of the social adaptation for the graduates of
the HEEs with the physical culture profile. The research of the
socio-pedagocical self-awareness of the graduates of the HEEs with the
physical culture profile allowed to assess the changes that take place
in this sphere and to forecast the search directions for the possible
solutions to the employment problem.

In October –December 1993 and March-June 1997 with the purpose of the
analysis mail questionnaire program was conducted for the graduates of
Lviv State Institute of Physical Culture. The questionnaire included 13
questions of three types: closed alternative, closed non-alternative and
open. The total number of questioned people is 422 (211 in 1993 and 211
in 1997). In 1993 65,2% of the questionnaires were returned in the
condition available for further processing, in 1997 the percent of
questionnaires returned was 51,1%. In May-June 1997 we conducted the
survey of the last year students of the Institutes of Physical Culture
in Lviv and Kyiv. 232 last year students were questioned according to
the representative selection of different aspects of the social life.
This researches studied public opinion of the respondents on the issues
of politics, economy and their social moods. The data were obtained
through the method of standardised interview.

In April-May 1997, the study of 21 managers of the sport organisations
of Lviv oblast as conducted. The goal of this study was to research the
problems of the physical culture specialists’ competitiveness under the
conditions of the transition to the market economy.

This chapter also analyses the priorties in the youth employment
policies and the mechanism of adaptation in finding the solution to the
employment problems of the graduates of the HEEs with the physical
culture profile.
