From the conditioned media of human epidermoid carcinoma cells
expressing the transforming growth factor a cDNA gene, a hydrophobic
cationic peptide named ECAP with molecular weight nearly 3 kDa is
isolated. As it is established, the secretion of ECAP by A431 and
A431/1522 cell lines is induced by ligands of the epidermal growth
factor receptor. A spectrum of biological activities of the peptide is
investigated. The inhibitory activity of ECAP towards the protein
