The dissertation is devoted to systematic investigations of Ralstonia
solanacearum lipopolysaccharides (LPS). LPS were isolated and
characterized from 17 strains of R. solanacearum, representatives of
various biovars which were differed by plant-host and geographical
origin. The seven types of O-specific polysaccharides structures were
determined, six of them were described for the first time. The
peculiarities of O-specific polysaccharides structure was show to
influence the LPS serological activity: the changes in chemical
structure of “variable” zone leads either to activation or screening the
antigenic determinants of LPS molecule.

R. solanacearum LPS was established to induce (-interferon production.
Lipid A and core-oligosaccharide were responsible for interferon
activity of LPS. R. solanacearum LPS showed an expressed antimetastatic
action.
