The dissertation deals with the problem of developing competitive sphere
in trade, namely with the essence, content and forms of a competitive
market. Having analyzed theory and practical experience in the sphere of
competition, the author classifies its types, reveals specific
peculiarities and characteristic features of competition in trade,
defines its main as well as additional functions and formulates urgent
tasks for future development of competition in trade. The detailed
analysis of specific conditions of developing the competitive sphere
make it possible to single out factors that influence the
intensification of this process and resolve a number of questions
connected with the activation of competitive policy of firms through
revealing and realization their competitive advantage. The main results
of the paper have been introduced into practical activities of some
trade firms through the development of their competitive strategy as
well as into educational process in teaching specialists in commercial
and economic colleges of secondary and higher education.
